Road
Atlas of BCMonthly Update
Releases
GIS Innovations generally releases updates to the Road Atlas monthly. The target date is the first of each month; but this date is commonly adjusted forward or back one or two days depending upon the work required to completely finish a geographic area. If we finish all the work in an area early, we will advance the delivery date. If we need an extra day or two to complete an area, we would rather complete the area and then issue the release instead of keeping to a fixed date and releasing one town or region half updated. We have discussed this method with most of the key users, and they all agree with the plan to adjust dates for completeness.
There are really two categories of changes in the Road Atlas: those requiring field verification, and those that do not. Updates, such as road name changes, changes to address plans, or changes to traffic rules are done on the effective date defined in the notifications we receive or as soon as we otherwise become aware of them. New roads, road re-alignment and many other changes require us to field verify the changes with our GPS equipped mapping vehicle. The typical schedule of the mapping vehicle is:
